I know that I’ve been totally slacking on Fashion Fridays. It’s just that it is taking a lot longer to fit back into my pants again than it did the first three times I had a kid. And there are only so many pictures of me in leggings that the internets could handle. But this morning I kind of fit into these pants, 11 weeks postpartum, so I’m diving back in.
I’ve been sticking with Weight Watchers and I’m 1/3 of the way through Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred. So far the results have been sloooooow coming. Sigh. We all want instant gratification, right… hopefully it isn’t just me. While I wait for my work to show up in my ability to wear everything in my closet again, I’m trying to concentrate on other things to distract myself from being sad at not fitting in things. I’ve been making an effort to do something with my hair every day- either wearing it down (as you can see, it’s a little wild when it’s down) or braiding it and putting it up and using cute hair accessories. And I gave myself a manicure yesterday! Plus I’ve been shopping for new glasses, since I am in dire need of an updated prescription and I want to find something new and fun for the new frames and lenses I’ll inevitably need after my next optometry appointment.
Shirt: Old Navy Cami (underneath): Old Navy Pants: J.Crew Scarf: I’m pretty sure this one was a gift from my parents after they visited my brother in South Africa. Mom, can you confirm? Either way, it’s pretty and so soft! And here are the glasses I’m thinking of:
They’re from Warby Parker. The Colton frames. While I do want something more fun than my current glasses (I’ve had basically the same frames for a decade, they look kind of like these), I don’t want to go too hipster with the frames. Mostly because I couldn’t be farther from being hip and/or ironically fashionable. But the Warby Parker glasses are very affordable and fun. I won’t be buying any for a few more weeks, but they let you try on five pairs at a time, at home, for free. Which is maybe the best idea ever.
This weekend we plan on taking our Christmas decorations down (yes, I KNOW, but every time we’ve gone to do it the boys have freaked out… we put our foot down about putting it all away this weekend though) and to finally finish painting our bedroom. Yes, we started painting it in September. We are nothing if not timely.
What are you guys doing this weekend? Do you have a long weekend for MLK Day?
Fun fact- when I was 11 (I think… thereabouts in age anyway), on MLK Day, I stepped on a sewing needle that was on the floor of my room and it broke in half and half of it lodged in my heel. I had to have surgery to remove it. Fun times. The moral of that story is: Clean your rooms, kiddos!
Now let’s take bets on how long I can wear these pants today before I have to unbutton them…

Thank you! It’s hard when pants won’t button but I’m trying to stay positive.

lol Glad it’s not just me! Apparently, if it were up to you and I, Christmas at camp would never end.

Can’t confirm the provenance of the scarf I would trust your memory more than mine!

You *do* look great, Claire! I still don’t fit back into my pre pregnancy pants and Cadence is almost 13 months old!!
Did you know that I once stepped on a sewing needle and got it lodged in the ball of my foot – I didn’t need surgery, but it *did* warrant a trip to the ER.
Hope you and your army of boys are well!! Xoxo

You look great for being 11 weeks out! I’m 3 years out and well…. yeah….
And I’ve had paint samples painted on to my upstairs hall for a year.
I think you win.

You look AMAZING! I wish I was disciplined enough to do an exercise DVD every day! amazing! Well done! Ooh and we had a pretty big (for Wales) snow fall this weekend so all schools and colleges were closed and most people didn’t have to work. We had a fab snow day! And now an icy weekend! How are your mum n dad enjoying their first British snow?
