Fashion Friday: Convent Edition

Yeah, you read that right. Convent edition.

Today I was spending the morning in a convent with an archivist for the local congregation of an order of nuns. My senior thesis (remember how I’m going to school full-time?) for the History part of my major necessitates many trips to local convent archives. Just Sister Charlotte and I talking about how the Bishop screwed over the Mother Superior back in the 19th century (no, those weren’t Sister Charlotte’s exact words, but it’s what her eyes said as she discussed the incident with disdain) and reading memoirs of sisters who served in what was then the frontier town of San Antonio. That’s just how I roll.

So this, to me, means no tank tops. Besides not wanting to offend Sister Charlotte with my sluttiness by showing off my whole arms TO INCLUDE MY ARMPITS, archives are usually temperature controlled. Which means that when you stroll in off the 100-degree street, it feels chilly. So jacket required.

Jeans: Hudsons. Let’s just assume that if I’m wearing jeans they are Hudsons. I have a couple of pairs of Gap Long and Leans that I like too, but they’re tucked away in storage with all. of. our. furniture. For another week and a half.

Shirt: Banana Republic. I love jewel tones. I rarely wear colors because I’m lame, but when I do they tend to be jewel tones.

Blazer: GAP. This was crazy on sale. Like 80% off sale. Yes ma’am.

Sandals: The Target ones I’ve been wearing for like a month straight

This weekend is more schoolwork, hanging around the house, walking to Blockbuster and enjoying our new pretty floors. I also get to actually cook food in the house because a friend of mine lent me pots and pans and I took myself to Target to buy the cheapest knife, cutting board and wooden spoon I could find. That’s all you need folks! I think we’ll go to the Farmer’s Market tomorrow to celebrate. Or probably just the fancy grocery store instead. That’s almost the same thing, right?

  1. I tried that blazer on at The Gap yesterday. Unfortunately it didn’t look as awesome on me. So instead I bought more flip flops.

    • That sucks. I love it and wish I had it in other colors so I could wear it all the time. More flip-flops is never a bad thing in my book though- I have more pairs of sandals than I should admit to. Less than a month until we can compare footwear in person again!

  2. Hmm.. I have a super cute corduroy blazer from JCrew. In raspberry. Did I mention my hair has bright pink highlights these days? Not so crazy about the matchy matchy thing these days.

    :) I have a cute cardi though!

    • Well indeed my hair and blazer do not match… although that would be one way to make a lasting impression on people at Blogher!
